This has been a pretty significant year for me so far. I turned 60! I really want to tackle the creeping aches and pains I’m experiencing, shed some excess fat and start the next decade on a high, so I'm going to do the Whole 30 for the month of September. Watch this space.

I’m so happy to have reached this milestone knowing that many others don’t; I’m not knocking it, I’m more than grateful.
3 weddings and a holiday
I look in the mirror at some point during most years and am not so happy with the shape and condition of my body. Sometimes, I’m motivated to get in better shape because I have holidays planned, or weddings and events to go to. I remember starting one year with the mantra “3 weddings and a holiday”, so I got to regular exercising and healthy eating. Well, I was pumped and toned for weddings 1 and 2; a little less pumped and toned by wedding 3; and horror, nearly back to my original starting weight by the holiday! These days, “Why, oh why, can’t I stay motivated?” is often my mantra.
There are many positives to my reaching 60. I’m not on any prescribed medication. I often get told that I don’t look my age (please someone tell me what 60 is meant to look like?). On the other hand, I really want to tackle the creeping aches and pains I’m experiencing, shed some excess fat and start the next decade on a high.
Why Whole 30?
My friend told me about the Whole 30 experience she and her family went through. They loved it and try to stay on track 80% of the time, still reaping the benefits. I bought the Whole 30 book after hearing that and was intrigued. I read it, found it a nice little space in the bookcase and there it’s stayed for the last 2 or maybe 3 years!
I don’t know why Whole 30 came to mind, but it did. I chatted with hubby about it and he’s keen to give it a go as well. He didn’t really know what he was signing up for when he agreed but being the star he is, he was still on board when he understood it. Love him! In addition, this is the first eating plan we’ve approached together so being there to support each other can only be a good thing.
So now we plan to do Whole 30 for the month of September and I’ll be checking in every Sunday. See you next Sunday.
